Feeling peckish and working around the cluck? We’ve hatched the perfect plan for you - MYP's Wine and Dine Evening!

This hentertaining networking event is one of our most popular and, with the trend for casual dining continuing to rule the roost, we've decided go to Yard & Coop on Thursday 30th March.

Located in Liverpool One (Hanover Street) the restaurant serves up the nest - sorry, best - chicken in the city! And there's no bogus Colonel in sight. Our guests will sample the highlights of Yard & Coop's extensive menu and its butter-fried chicken - with its unique secret recipe – is sure to delight your tastebuds.

And - for the coop de grâce - each guest will receive one hentire bottle of wine per head. We're not even yolking!

Book Your Place

For members, the event will cost a poultry £10 per person. For non-members, the event will cost £30 person which is remarkably cheep.

We expect places to be gobbled up extremely quickly so you can’t wing it. Avoid running around like a headless chicken, email Natalie Hargreaves (Natalie.Hargreaves@brabners.com) a.s.a.p! Please indicate your guests' preference for red or white wine on your email.

Don't fall fowl of the rules, though - we must receive payments for all guests by 16th March otherwise you will fall down the pecking order.

February 2017

What: Visit to the Everyman Theatre to watch Fiddler on the Roof
When: Thursday 23rd February 2017
Where: The Everyman Theatre, Hope Street
Cost: Members – £10.00, Non-members - £20.00

Choices.
His daughter? His faith? His village? His life?

The Everyman theatre counts numerous luminaries of stage and screen amongst its alumni - Julie Walters, Bill Nighy, Pete Postlethwaite and Jonathan Pryce to name but a few – and performed under a successful repertory system in the past. Repertory theatre involves a resident company of actors who – with little or no external help – present a series of varied productions during a particular season.

In 2017, the Everyman Repertory Company is back. And, inspired by the huge success of last year’s visit to see the hilarious The Massive Tragedy of Madame Bovary! we at MYP cordially invite you to join us once again at the RIBA Award winning theatre to watch the brilliant musical Fiddler on the Roof.

The classic work contains glorious songs such as If I Were A Rich Man and Miracle of Miracles and follows the fate of Tevye, a Russian father who is faced to make a series of impossible choices.

On Thursday 23rd February, for just £10 per ticket, our members can enjoy a complimentary pre-show drink in a private function room in Liverpool’s most chic theatre. Indulge in a glass of wine and nibbles with your peers before taking your seat at around 19:30. Non-members' tickets are £20 each.

Book Your Place

Due to the exclusivity and excellent value of this fantastic offering, we must receive applications for tickets before 15th February 2017.  Tickets will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. To apply, please email Leanne.Dolan@hilldickinson.com who will notify you of payment details.

January 2017

What: MYP Chinese new year celebration
When: Thursday 19th January 2017 from 18:00
Where: Chamber 36, Berry Street
Cost: Members – Free, Non-members - £15.00

Happy New Year to all of our members!

January is upon us. It's cold. Really cold! A little bleak. Christmas decorations are coming down. Potentially crippling New Year's resolutions have kicked in. And 2017 could be a year of considerable global economic and political uncertainty.

But let's not get too carried away!

MYP will brighten up your January and get 2017 off to a solid, optimistic and cheery start with our event on Thursday 19th January in association with Thornton Legal.

We will be celebrating the Chinese New Year at Chamber 36, Berry Street's newest and coolest bar, and will offer our guests 3 drinks vouchers which can be exchanged for:
- a bottled beer
- a single spirit + mixer
- a glass of wine

Two vouchers can also be exchanged for one of Chamber Thirty Six's incredible signature cocktails, including the amazing Bruce Lee-Chini which, MYP can attest, is extremely tasty and packs a considerable punch!

There will also be a selection of Oriental Street Food provided for our guests.

We are delighted to be hosting the event with the support of Thornton Legal who we will be pleased to welcome on the evening.

November 2016

What: MYP Champagne Tasting 2016
When: Thursday 10th November from 18:00
Where: Buyers Club, off Hardman Street
Cost: Members – Free, Non-members - £25.00

And now for something completely different!

Here at MYP we like to mix it up. Give it a bit of zest and fizz and verve!

And so for our ever-popular Champagne Tasting this year, we're moving from the Port of Liverpool building with its Baroque beauty to somewhere which is firmly rooted in the NOW.

Buyer’s Club on Hardman Street is one of Liverpool’s newest and most exciting spaces – so it was an obvious choice for MYP to pay it a visit.

Don't you worry - the format of the evening (and of course the quantity of champagne on offer from the fabulous R&H Fine Wines) is unchanged - but we've decided to move to freshen things up and (most importantly) to allow us to increase our capacity to fit you all in!

September 2016

What: MYP’s Great Gatsby Gala
When: Thursday 29th September from 18:00
Where: The Club House, Liverpool ONE
Cost: Members - FREE, Non-members - £20

“The lights grow brighter as the earth lurches away from the sun, and the opera of voices pitches a key higher. Laughter is easier minute by minute, spilled with prodigality, tipped out at a cheerful word.”

A new academic year is upon us and, depending on your age, memories of formal education may be fairly fresh or horrifyingly hazy! But no doubt many of you will have enjoyed (or possibly endured) F. Scott Fitzgerald’s classic novel The Great Gatsby at school.

Now don’t worry – we’re not setting any essays. Rather, we’re paying homage to the Jazz Age and the novel, MYP-Style, by:

  • Hiring the whole first floor of the glitzy Clubhouse with its colonial, Long Island feel – just like Jay Gatsby’s mansion!
  • Offering invitees to Gatsby’s Gala a generous 4 free drinks each!
  • Giving away prizes for the best dressed male and female (think roaring twenties glamour, sequins, hats and feathers!)

The event is not strictly fancy-dress: however, if you would like to add some variation to your professional attire by accessorizing – or by going all out 1920’s style – we will be giving away bottles of fizz for the best-dressed man and woman!

For members, the event will be free. For non-members, it will cost £20 per person. Given that guests will receive 4 free drinks per person, this event will sell out so please register your interest by emailing Andrea Hornby (Andrea.Hornby@uk.gt.com) as soon as possible. Please note that payment for non-members is required in advance: if this is not received by 22nd September, reserved places will be offered to members on the reserve list.

Cheques should be made payable to "Merseyside Young Professionals" and sent to the MYP Treasurer, Andrea Hornby, at the address below. As usual, in the event that the evening is oversubscribed we will allocate places on a first come first served basis.

August 2016

What: MYPizza Party at Santa Maluco
When: Thursday 25th August 2016 from 18:00
Where: Santa Maluco, Castle Street
Cost: Members - FREE, Non-members - £15

We at MYP Towers have followed the Graffiti Spirits Group's career with interest: firstly there was the innovative Santa Chupitos which really shook up the whole city-centre bar scene. El Bandito followed soon after. After that came the ever-consistent, power-combo of Salt Dog Slims / 81 Ltd on Seel Street (in which we held a superb event in 2013). And now, having opened up Slim's Pork Chop Express, they've finally arrived in the business district with their newest offering, Santa Maluco.

You know what you're getting with these guys: an excellent selection of drinks, some of the most innovative cocktails around, and great music. Santa Maluco also throws into the mix hand-made, authentic Italian-Brazilian pizzas with a dazzling array of toppings!

As such, MYP is delighted to invite our members to join us on Thursday 25th August with two free drinks and a slice of one of the many amazing pizzas on offer. Gotta love MYPizza!

For members, the event will be free. For non-members, it will cost £15 per person. The capacity of this event is strictly limited so please register your interest by emailing Louisa Clarke (LClarke@moorsat.com) as soon as possible. Please note that payment for non-members is required in advance: if this is not received by 18th August, reserved places will be offered to members on the reserve list.

Cheques should be made payable to "Merseyside Young Professionals" and sent to Louisa at the address below. As usual, in the event that the evening is oversubscribed we will allocate places on a first come first served basis.

May 2016

What: MYP Beer and Board Games Night

When: Thursday 19th May 2016 from 6pm

Where: Red Door, Berry Street

Cost: Members - FREE, Non-members - £15 per person

Sales pitch one (the serious effort):

Pablo Picasso once said “Every child is an artist. The problem is staying an artist when you grow up.”

At MYP, we don’t count many artists amongst our membership but we do believe that approaching things as a child would can be beneficial! This is because children are unfazed by stereotypes or class or status. The tabula rasa they have means that they are inquisitive and are open-minded. And children play to develop new strategies to tackle problems.

And this is why you should come to our beer and board-games night!

Shed the shackles of adulthood and revert to your youth – it may change your perspective and we certainly can guarantee it’ll be great fun!

Sales pitch two (the simple one):

  • Our guests will receive a number of free drinks
  • We’ll have Hungry Hippos, Jenga, Beer-Pong, Shots Noughts and Crosses and many more
  • It’s in a great venue with an outside space
  • There’ll be your usual great crowd of fellow networkers

Whichever pitch pleases you, the event was a HUGE SUCCESS last year so come along! You will not regret it!

Numbers for this event are strictly limited and as such we recommend you reserve your spaces as soon as possible. The event is free to members and £15 per head for non-members.
Please do let us know how many spaces you would like to reserve, members or non-members, by emailing Jennifer.Christian-Campbell@quiltercheviot.com as soon as possible.

Please note that payment for non-members is required in advance: if this is not received by 12th May reserved places will be offered to members on the reserve list.

Cheques should be made payable to "Merseyside Young Professionals" and sent to the MYP Treasurer, Andrea Hornby, at the address below. As usual, in the event that the evening is oversubscribed we will allocate places on a first come first served basis.
